Over time in drawing, i learned how to use shading to make things more realistic. When i came into the class i knew how to sketch and simple stuff, but when i got further and further into the class, i learned more and more about what just shading darker or adding more in some parts of a drawing, could change it from a sketch to an actual drawing piece.in the picture above, you can see that one has no shading and appears as meerly a body shape with lines. In the other drawing you can see how much more i shading and darkening i did, and it makes the drawing look alot more realistic and gives it an overall change in appearance. These skills are something i will take for future drawings i make on my free time. Ive definitley changed as a drawer from the beggining to the end of this class and do not regret taking it at all.
Only could get one picture of the scratch board but this is the final product. I really liked doing this project because of how we were able to choose whatever we wanted to do. I like things in nature so i chose between a deer and a turkey. The reason i went with the deer is because i felt like i could inccoperate more movement with one as opposed to a turkey. One thing i couldve done better is less things in the backround and showed distance better. I liked the idea of the piece more than the actual final piece. These are my drawings for the final portrait project. I really enjoyed doing this project for the most part because i could be more creative with it. It took some time to come up with ideas for it but once i got them all drawn out it wasnt so bad. It came down between the mechanical or zombie drawing, i ended up going with the mechanical because there were more things for me to add into the face. Overall i am very pleased with how my project turned out. For me, starting it was the most challenging part. My first sketch was way smaller, and i felt more confident with it. When i saw the paper for this one i really didnt know where to start at first. I then decided my best option was to start on the top and bottom parts of the face and connect them. Once i did that i was able to get my basic lines down for the face, then i could begin on the more major details, starting with eyes, ending with the face pieces. Getting the details in wasnt to hard. I mostly came up with ideas as i went further along in the drawing. The most noticable part being the clock substituted for the eye; a part i liked the most. Another thing i thought was neat is how i took the parts of the faces off to reveal the other layers of the face. In the end, i am really pleased with myself and i think i did a pretty good job overall. This is my zombie portrait. I used patty paper and actually traced out the old face. Once i did that i was able to peice out the parts of the face that i wanted to "mutilate". I think it looked pretty cool for just a sketch. Not the one i want to base my final off of. This was the first drawing of myself. It started out tricky but got slowly easier the more i worked on it. Once i placed out each part of the face like eyes, nose, mouth, it was prety easy. The most tricky part was drawing on the hair and doing all the shading for the contours of the face. Overall im really pleased with my work on this. This was how we learned to do face placement. We would draw the horizontal line to show where eyes would go. There should be 5 eyes across. There is also an eye and a half to the bottom of the nose. It helps alot in proportioning out the face. I have never realized how much detail there actually is in a nose. Alot of the lines are actually not lines but instead it's just shading. Only one main line actually there and thats both sides of the bottom of the nose and the sides of the top. I am getting much better with these. Especially shading placement. These are my initial eye sketches. I cuaght on pretty fast as I have done eyes before. I learned to do some things like the shading around the pupil. Another thing i did not notice is to shade the edges or corners of the eye . It really makes a difference. Definitley getting better than these. These are the two lip sketches i did. I know i have others but i think i drew faces around them. These were pretty rough but i think that the more faces i drew with lips, the better i got. These were not too bad for first time sketches, but my portrait drawing ones look better. I thought this drawing was gonna be a really difficult at first but once i got the outline it got way easier. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Made me want to use prismacolors more. |
